Trusier talks about Sino-Vietnamese football: The two are similar. To realize the dream of the World Cup, it needs to be more “open”

Live broadcast, October 16 -in an interview with Ma Dexing, a reporter from Sports Weekly, Vietnamese coach trusier expressed his views on the differences between Chinese and Vietnamese football, indicating that Chinese and Vietnamese football has similarities in many aspects, to realize the dream of entering the World Cup, we need to become more “open”.

I noticed that you have been sending a message to Vietnamese players and Vietnamese media that you are still confident to try the 2026 World Cup.

Trusier: it should be said to be a “challenge” and a “dream”. Vietnamese football should have such a dream. Based on my experience of coaching the Vietnamese team, I think Vietnamese players are very disciplined and can always concentrate when doing things, and they are very determined and want to do things. This is actually very similar to the Japanese team and the Chinese team that have been taught before. Moreover, for Vietnamese football, if you want to have development, you should have such a dream. Therefore, this is not just my dream.

The reason why I put forward such a dream is that I hope Vietnamese football and Vietnamese fans can all realize that Vietnamese football is developing well now, but it is only in Southeast Asia and Asia, there is still a big gap in Vietnamese football. You can’t think that Vietnam can go to the World Cup just because you won a Chinese team match in the last FIFA World Cup qualification. I put forward such a goal, which is to let Vietnamese football players further broaden their horizons and horizons. More importantly, Vietnamese fans should also see that Vietnamese football is nothing in Asian football now, not only the Southeast Asian champion, but also the runner-up of the U23 Championship, I think Vietnam football can already represent Asia to participate in the World Cup.

Just like in the match against the Chinese team, although we lost, we should not only see a result, but also feel that we can control the ball under our feet, to master the ball right on the court, there is a chance to compete with the strong Asian teams. However, “ball control” is the result of repeated training and self-sacrifice. These instructions I give are not out of focus, and players need to give more positive feedback and become more confident. When everyone is not in the best state, it is good to show these requirements. It doesn’t matter if you lose. It’s not that everything is fine after you win. On the contrary, after losing the game, players should see positive things and continue to do so.

I will not put pressure on the players, and I have made it clear before that the important thing about this trip to China and South Korea is not the result but the content. In the match against the Chinese team, both of them were very low-level personal mistakes. However, we should also see that the Vietnamese team controlled more than 65% of the ball in the match, moreover, 83% of the passes are active passes, not meaningless returns or passes. Moreover, we have shot more than 9 times, which is the most frequently shot game in the international A- level competition I have participated in since I took over the Vietnamese team. Although everyone’s status has not reached the best, some data reflected in the competition are quite encouraging, which can make everyone more confident.

Our three games were played away. One of the major problems of the Vietnamese team was that there was often a big contrast between the home and away performances. On the one hand, the arranged trip to China shows that we are improving and improving, especially the players are carrying out and moving forward according to what I have given as a “guide. On the other hand, I actually want the players to realize more clearly that the three opponents of this trip between China and South Korea are one stronger than one, through the competition, players can feel the high level of Asia. If they want to enter the World Cup, they need to pass these opponents. Therefore, I have been saying that we have nothing to lose. In theory, Vietnam’s loss to these opponents is a normal result. Therefore, I don’t want to put pressure on the players or have more ideas.

The only pressure is actually how these three opponents can make more trouble in the game and how to better control the ball. We are not negative, conservative, less afraid, but more positive. Vietnam football needs to be clear. If you want to enter the World Cup, you must first jump out of the small circle of Southeast Asia. If you want to control the ball, you cannot always defend and then fight back. If you want to win, you should control the ball more effectively and make more active decisions on the court.

I think you are carrying out a “revolution” and a “subversion” on Vietnamese football, which is a big change in concept. It may take a long time, even two or three generations to complete it, not just by your coach of the national team.

Trusier: indeed, this is very difficult and challenging. Fortunately, from the Vietnamese Football Association to the players, they all support me. This also gives me the courage and determination to continue my work. And, as you know, I am a person who likes challenges.

In fact, from another perspective, this is another way of working. For example, the current national team competition window is generally only about 10 days. I can use these 10 days to gather players and choose the best players without considering other issues, then go to simple training and participate in the competition. I don’t even need to change their inherent football ideas and ideas so that they can finish the match according to their understanding. This will be much easier, and it is also two completely different jobs. What I am doing now is that it is almost from scratch, so it is not so easy.

Speaking of which, I would like to ask you a question. The Chinese team once participated in the 2002 World Cup. Why do you think the Chinese team can participate in that World Cup? But since then, the Chinese team has never participated.

I think it is a combination of various reasons, not a single factor. For example, in that World Cup qualifier, South Korea and Japan as hosts did not need to participate in the competition, while the group draw result of the Chinese team was quite good, at that time, the other two strongest Asian teams, Saudi Arabia and Iran, were not in the same group as the Chinese team; For example, because they caught up with a good coach milu and a group of good players, especially, at that time, there were six or seven Chinese teams playing in Europe, and the number of overseas players even exceeded South Korea and Japan.

Trusier: Yes, the points you said are reasonable, but I agree more that the Chinese team had so many players playing in Europe at that time. When I was coaching in Japan, there was only one overseas player, namely Hidetoshi Nakata. However, how many Chinese teams play in Europe now? But compared with Japan, as far as I know, there are more than 200 people. So, why can the current Japan national team beat Germany and Spain? Especially last month, the Japanese team played the 4-1 away tactical German team, which made many people feel incredible. But I understand very well that this is actually the biggest problem I face when I coach the Vietnamese team. When I was coaching the Japanese team, I told the Japanese Football Association that more Japanese players should go out. They listened to such opinions. 20 years have passed, from the time I was there was only one person to the present more than 200 people, why can Japanese football make progress? This is enough to explain the problem. Nowadays, when I coach the Vietnamese team, the situation of Vietnamese football is very similar to that when I coach in Japan more than 20 years ago. Almost no one is in Europe, ruan Guanghai once stayed in the French B- class team, but now he is back.

In the same situation, why can’t the Chinese team enter the World Cup any more? In fact, you only need to see how many Chinese players play in Europe now, and you will know the answer. I always thought that after that World Cup, there would be more players going out in China, but unfortunately, in the years when I was coaching in Chinese clubs, there were very few Chinese players going out. What does it mean to have fewer players? Not so open!” There will be too many problems in understanding football and cultivating football culture. In fact, with my experience of teaching in Vietnam, I think Vietnamese football has many similarities with Chinese football and is deeply influenced by Eastern traditional culture. For example, because the two countries are adjacent and both are socialist countries, they are very similar in understanding football and are not so open. This kind of “openness” is not only the introduction of foreign aid and foreign teachers, but also the understanding and application of modern football and the passion and passion for football.

I have taught in Hangzhou and Shenzhen, and a profound feeling is that the local people do not seem to have much enthusiasm for the league. After arriving in Vietnam, I found that the local people did not seem to have any special enthusiasm for the National League, which can be seen from the attendance. However, football is the “first sport” in Vietnam “. When the Chinese team played against the Vietnamese team, Dalian’s attendance rate was so low that I couldn’t believe it. But in Vietnam, not only the national team, even the U23 Olympic team or the national youth team, the stadium is almost full, because before I took over the Vietnam National team and the national Olympic team, he once served as the head coach of Vietnam U19 national youth team and personally experienced the enthusiasm of Vietnamese for the national character team. But in China, it is hard to feel this, because football is not the “first sport” in China. Even so far, I don’t know what is the “first sport” in China “. However, China’s sports are really very powerful, especially for individual projects, which can win so many world champions and Olympic gold medals, except football.

Because I have taught in China and have a deep understanding of China’s league matches. After going to Vietnam, I also felt deeply about Vietnam Football League. Frankly speaking, there is a very troublesome situation for me to coach the Vietnamese team now, that is, the set I am carrying out in the Vietnamese national team is rarely adopted in Vietnam’s domestic league teams. In fact, the situation of Vietnam’s league matches is very similar to that of China’s league matches. The most typical thing is that Chinese clubs like those players with high body and impact when introducing foreign aid, and the goal scores are almost all foreign aid, so there are few scorers in China’s national team. The same is true for Vietnam’s league matches, which need to be improved as soon as possible. I need to start from scratch and let Vietnamese players accept a completely different football philosophy and philosophy, which has to take longer. Why is China’s football level not high or even declining? That is, the level of domestic league matches is lower than that of Japanese and Korean league matches. With the help of overseas players, the gap between countries is widening.

Therefore, both Vietnamese football and Chinese football have the dream of entering the 2026 World Cup. However, if you want to enter the World Cup, you need a high-level league stage and more players to go out. Just like when the Chinese team entered the 2002 World Cup, at least six or seven players played in Europe. If there are six or seven players playing in Europe in the Chinese national team now, it may be another situation.
